Medical Waste Management

Sharps Medical Waste Services offers the largest selection of medical waste mailback solutions in the market today. Solutions are selected to fit individual location needs, based on volumes, frequency, and applicable regulations. We also manage biohazardous pickup services for our customers that generate larger waste volumes or have higher service frequency needs. This blended offering of mailback and pickup service affords our customers the right solutions to match individual facility needs.

Pharmaceutical Waste Management

Safe and proper management of unused or expired ultimate-user medications in hospitals, clinics, and long-term care facilities is a growing concern. The DEA released regulations under the Secure and Responsible Drug Disposal Act that allow commingled collection of controlled (Schedules II-V) and non-controlled medications from ultimate users in long-term care facilities, hospitals and clinics with on-site pharmacies, and narcotic treatment centers. With our MedSafe program, medication collection and disposal are easy and cost-effective while meeting the DEA regulations. When matched with our hazardous waste and medical waste programs, healthcare providers have a single source for regulatory compliant management of their regulated waste streams.

Hazardous Waste Management

In addition to other hazardous and universal waste, healthcare providers generate more than 84,000 tons of hazardous pharmaceutical waste each year. Many are unaware that they can be inspected and cited and, therefore, don't have programs in place to manage their hazardous wastes properly. Facilities can be subject to fines of up to $37,500 per day per incident for noncompliance with hazardous waste regulations. At Sharps Medical Waste Services, we develop comprehensive hazardous waste disposal programs for hazardous waste generators that include waste determination, storage, transportation, and proper treatment.
